To combat overheating Ultimaker stepper motors, print three cooling shrouds that slide easily onto the X, Y, or extruder steppers without removing them (assuming wires are in place). Fasten small #4 bolts through each shroud's five holes and mount fans to draw air out. Wire the fans to the controller board LED output (19V) or fan output (also 19V), using a combination of 5V, 24V fans, or one 24V and two 12V fans in series-parallel. Secure shrouds with a small bolt for a tighter fit if desired, and guide motor wires through semi-circular holes. For the Y-axis stepper, rotate it in due to limited clearance and connect triangular tabs on the shroud's back part to the stepper's bevel. No need for large fans; a little airflow will maintain the steppers under body temperature.
