Ultimaker S3 additional spool holder
thingiverse
Very simple spool holder for Ultimaker S3. Probably wouldn't work with other printers/models as there is a strict clearance 4 mm between the back edge of the frame and the printing head. So, it must fit precisely. But I am including FreeCad source for people to tweak it a bit. I made it because I did not like the dual spool holder at the back of my Ultimaker. I don't usually use Ultimaker's filament with NFC chip and there is no point to stack spools together, making it very hard to replace. On occasions when I do use Ultimaker's filament I put it on the bottom holder. I cut the bottom holder and it holds only one spool now. But I can put the printer close against the wall this way. Also, having a spool on tom makes it easy to see how much filament is left. This print has to use support. I used 0.15 layer and 0.3 mm between the support and the part so removing was easy. And that surface is on the bottom and is hidden. Filament from the top spool is routed as seen in pictures. No problems so far, after printing the whole green spool (1kg).
