Ultimaker original (rod - ball bearing upgrade)

During my recent vacation, I volunteered to refurbish three printers at the RSG Lingecollege #TB. It was a win-win situation since I needed to print some parts. I built this printer in 2015 and fortunately, the pulleys were still intact. To get them working properly again, I simply tightened the nuts and then gave them an extra turn without overdoing it. Use a high-quality Allen wrench - it's worth the investment! I discovered that my alignment tool is more accurate than the wooden Ultimaker alignment tool. Take a look for yourself. The only issue with this printer was that the rods were moving slightly. However, this upgrade will allow you to secure them in place with minimal friction. Applying some copper grease might be helpful, but since all the metals are hard, it's not strictly necessary. To insert the nuts perfectly, use pliers. I used PLA and had one break, but that was just a test to see what would happen if you forced one in at a 30-degree angle. The holes are 3mm, so you can drill them out if needed, but they should fit just fine. You're welcome!
