ULTIMAKER ORIGINAL E3D Nozzle mod FAN DUCT (ugliest fan duct in thingiverse)
thingiverse
I replaced my UO (2012) original 0.4 nozzle with a new 0.6 E3D nozzle, which works very well, but I had to unscrew the hollow threaded tube, leaving almost 1.5 cm of tube out and screwing the new nozzle into the heatblock for 5mm. I now have a new configuration that's quite unusual and required me to change my Z endstop as well. My original flexible fan duct won't work well with the new nozzle, which is several mm lower than before. To address this issue, I designed an ugly but functional new fan duct inspired by web readings on refreshing the PEEK with fan air. The fan duct has a double air outtake feature, and it's still a work in progress as I try to improve airflow by refreshing the peek and exposing the hollow tube. For now, severe underextrusion appears when the fan is on, so I closed the superior air outlet, redirecting all fresh air power directly onto the hot plastic exiting the nozzle - and it works like a charm, although I'll repeat that my design is ugly.
