Ultimaker LED lights with bearing caps
thingiverse
Enjoy printing in the dark? Here's how to improve your view during prints... The Ultimaker has a 19V power supply for LEDs, allowing you to use five cheap white 5mm LEDs with a Vf of 3.8 volts when wired in series. To discreetly hold these LEDs out of the way of the mechanism, model and print specific fittings. You'll need one top light and two side lights, along with two mirrored side lights. For optimal viewing, consider using 40-degree angle LEDs instead of the narrow ones used. To install, cut the LED legs short (about 5mm) and solder wires to each leg. Push the LEDs into their respective fittings and secure with hot melt glue. Remove bearing caps and replace them with the lights, guiding the wires along existing cable paths before soldering together in series and connecting to the PCB's 19V LED feed. Modeled in Siemens NX8 and printed at 0.1mm slice with a 50% fill using Cura, this modification will enhance your nighttime printing experience!
