Ultimaker Impeller Fan Mod

The inefficient original material cooling fan is swapped out for a more efficient impeller type fan, accompanied by a fan duct and nozzle design reminiscent of the Replicator 2. As a result, print quality receives a notable boost, although the nozzle design still requires further refinement. I sourced my new fan from an electronic components supplier. The part was printed in PLA using my Ultimaker, with Cura 14.03 handling the slicing duties. Design work was conducted using ViaCAD v9.1. Print settings included a layer height of 0.2mm and fill levels ranging from 80% to 100%, with no support structures employed. To complete the build, I followed these steps: 1. Remove any existing tear-out support structures. 2. If necessary, replace the fan's connector. 3. Secure the fan to the printed part using 20mm long screws and nuts. 4. Mount the assembly directly to the carriage thumb screws using two nuts. 5. Tidy up the wiring connections.
