Ultimaker filament spool holder
thingiverse
I was thrilled with the idea of placing the filament spool at the back of my Ultimaker but struggled to accommodate many spools that wouldn't fit on the original holder. Determined not to use additional parts, I designed a complete plastic printable one for spools with diameters as low as 30mm. The holder proves sturdy enough to support weights of 2kg or more and has an upward tilt of 3°, ensuring the spool doesn't slide downwards. This is my first design on Thingiverse, so feel free to offer any recommendations. **Instructions** Installing this part is relatively straightforward: you'll need the "spool holder base" and at least the "spool holder 100mm" component. If you have a spare spool, simply add the corresponding part – 40, 60, or 90 mm will do. I've used it for several months without encountering any issues thus far. You might need to sand some parts slightly to ensure they fit together securely, but avoid excessive smoothing; they must remain tightly connected. I printed this model in PLA with minimal infill (20%), walls of 1.2mm thickness, and a layer height of 0.15mm while supporting a weight of 2kg. The unusual shapes are for added sturdiness – if you want to try even heavier weights, increasing the infill ratio might be beneficial. I opted for no brim or support at all; most parts print perfectly fine without any assistance. Use a print speed of at least 30mm/s to avoid potential issues.
