Ultimaker feeder upgrade
thingiverse
A reinforced version of Antiklesys' feeder enhancement is crucial for retractions. Despite concerns about strength, a key improvement involves altering the side supports (parts 10A and 10C). The upgrade includes printable modifications to all three components while maintaining fidelity to the original Ultimaker design. To implement this, you'll need a 6mm ID, 10mm OD, 3mm wide bearing, available for £1.99 on eBay. This modification significantly reduces friction, leading to less pressure required, fewer teeth marks on filament, decreased jamming of deformed filament in the bowden tube, and improved, quieter retraction performance. The model was created in Siemens NX8, printed at 0.1 slice with 100% fill using Cura, requiring no support.
