Ultimaker extruder update

Ultimaker extruder update

I recently revamped the extruder assembly on a Beta Ultimaker, an idea that had been lingering in my mind for some time now. The improvements include a bigger diameter (20 mm) for the "bolt" and incorporating a bearing as a pressure roller. Additionally, I designed the wheel with straight grooves to eliminate the need for cleaning. This straight-grooved design also prevents grinding of filament, allowing me to print uninterrupted for hours on end. Consequently, my printed parts exhibit better quality due to consistent filament transit. However, making some parts in steel is a requirement for this modified extruder assembly. Created by Geo Hagen from http://www.hagentb.nl. To install and print with this upgraded extruder, follow these instructions: assemble the printed parts (some need mirroring), use steel for 50materialwheel and 50pin-M4 components. Standard Ultimaker bearings (8x16x5 mm) are used, along with a Festo G1/8 fitting with a 6 mm hole. Tap this thread into the 50fittingblock. Remember to modify settings in your software, such as increasing M92 to approximately 315 in Skeinforge (version >40) due to the larger wheel.
