Ultimaker Direct Drive
thingiverse
This design serves as a drop-in replacement for short belts. However, it remains incomplete as an alternative approach was successful and less complex. The proof of concept works well with high print quality, ensuring the gear pairings are perfectly round and smooth. Gear wheel quality is vital to avoid jamming or backlash; interchange gears to find matching pairs. Print improved wheels before installation and use self-locking M3 nuts or Loctite. The bill of materials includes 6x10x3mm ball bearings, assorted machine screws, 4 headless M3 screws, and 6 M3 washers with nuts. Be cautious during installation to avoid wasting time rolling back your UM to belts.
