What is a Bowden Fixer? The bowden tube and black cable running from the extruder to the back of the UM2 aren't secured, allowing both cables to flex freely whenever the printer's in action. Although this wouldn't normally cause issues for the printer, tying these cables down will eliminate any potential problems and make everything look more organized on the printer. Design Considerations The BFX01 is a single piece design, making it easy to print, install and giving it an elegant appearance. It's designed to be only visible on the back of the printer, without affecting the sides or front of the printer. Additionally, there are no hinges, clamps or locking mechanism, allowing for easy mounting and removal of the bowden tube and black cable. How Does It Work? The left screw hole screws into an existing screw that holds the printer's back panel and top panel in place. The right screw sits on top of the back panel, creating tension between the BFX01 and the back panel to keep the BFX01 securely fastened. The last screw holds the bowden tube onto the BFX01, making it simple to remove the bowden tube at any time without disassembling the BFX01. Inspiration Several UM2 bowden fixers on Youmagine have been tried out but were too difficult to assemble. Some come in multiple pieces that are hard to attach. Therefore, a new design was created from scratch with the idea of creating a single-piece fixer and finding a convenient area to mount it on the printer.
