Ultimaker Belt Tensioner
thingiverse
This Ultimaker Belt Tensioner 5000, originally created by Jamesm1 (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:19818), has been remodeled to allow maximum belt tension. By opening up the mount holes, it allows for more tension in the future. This is a first-time Thing by the creator who found this design to be better than most others. The Tensioner offers a firm grip on the belt and allows precise tuning. Print this 8 times or use the second version (which has 8). Removal of one bolt and loosening two others with nuts removed is required for installation. Slide the Tensioner over the belt and bolts, add the third bolt back in, and then secure it with nuts. Adjust tension by pushing a flat object up or down on the pulleys associated with the belt, tighten nuts and bolts, and repeat when needed. The accuracy achieved after this modification is amazing, and credit goes to Jamesm1 for creating the original design. There are eight of these Tensioners installed on the Ultimaker (re-modeled in LW; 1mm equals 1 meter). Please leave comments and thanks to Jamesm1 for the inspiration.
