Ultimaker anti Z wobble
thingiverse
The Z-axis on an Ultimaker printer relies solely on the bottom coupler, which may exhibit minor lateral movement compensated by XY plane's Z brass nut movement. To ensure stability, an additional object can be used to secure the upper end of the Z threaded axis, reducing off-axis motion. Comparing prints with and without this object reveals improved results. For printing, adjust settings as desired (0.3 layer thickness recommended for reduced friction) and place the anti-wobble object over the Z hole, securing it with a 12mm steel rod. Mark and drill 2 small holes for screw placement. Remove the coupler's steel rods and apply grease to the anti-wobble object. Carefully insert it onto the threaded rod, aligning it with the coupler before fixing in place. Reassemble the Z stage and test the alignment with a Z jog. The anti-wobble object effectively improves print quality by reducing off-axis movement.
