Ultimaker 2 Top Enclosure
thingiverse
Hi, These are the 3D-printed components needed to build a top enclosure for an Ultimaker 2. This design allows easy removal of the top enclosure from the printer, facilitating maintenance operations. The enclosure also enhances printing conditions by preventing warping and allowing for optimal ABS performance. Maximum recorded temperatures within the enclosure are around 75-80°C (170°F) when the heat-bed reaches approximately 100-110°C (210-230°F). Check out the front door enclosure design on Thingiverse: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1276732 Print Settings: Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer Model: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: No Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill Percentage: 75% Important Notes: 1. Correctly orient each part before printing. 2. Print the "Corner3SidesX5" component five times, while all other parts need to be printed once. These parts were created with ColorFabb XT filament and worked well. Additional infill might improve ABS printing performance. Post-Printing Tasks You may drill additional M4 holes for easier assembly of the top enclosure. Required components include: 30 X FHC M4 screws (20 mm length) 30 X M4 nuts Poly-carbonate (5 mm thick): 1 piece 316mm x 200mm - Back side 1 piece 326mm x 200mm - Front side 2 pieces 440mm x 200mm - Left and Right sides 1 piece 445mm x 326mm - Top side 1 piece 210mm x 97mm - Bottom back side Assembly Procedure Carefully remove the protective plastics from the poly-carbonate plates after drilling all M4 holes. Position the 3D-printed top enclosure on the poly-carbonate plates, then drill additional M4 holes through the poly-carbonate. After completing the hole-drilling process and removing the protection plastics, assemble all parts together. Be cautious not to overtighten the FHC screws, as this could damage the 3D-printed components. With that said, assembly is complete! Enjoy admiring the transformed printer enclosure!
