Ultimaker 2 Replacement Print Head V1.1
pinshape
Summary I designed this print head for my Ultimaker 2 after my second original print head developed cracks. It's a drop-in replacement that uses stock bearings, with cables secured on the outside and the outer part easily removable by loosening four screws. The design takes inspiration from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:703974 but aims to be a true drop-in replacement without altering the original size or shape significantly. I also wanted to avoid firmware changes. UPDATE V1.1: I created a refined version with improvements. The hole for the bowden tube fix is larger, making it easier to secure the clamp. Additionally, I thickened the outer body section where cables are attached because my ABS print's cable broke quickly. Print Settings Rafts: NoSupports: YesResolution: 0.1mmInfill: 40%/50%Notes: Printed with 40% rectilinear infill for PLA and 50% full honeycomb for ABS. 25mm/s overall speed, first layer 80%, outline 50%, solid infill 80%, support 80%. Retraction 4.5mm, speed 25mm/s, 0.2mm vertical lift, coasting 1.5mm. Temp was 210°/60° for Innofil black PLA, 240°/90° for Innofil silver ABS. Instructions Printed with Innofil black PLA and Innofil silver ABS using Simplify3D v3 with supports. I printed a second version in ABS because the bottom of the parts touching the "cold" end deformed slightly after longer prints at high temperatures, causing the cold end to reach a temperature above glass transition temp of PLA. This issue occurs after several prints, requiring adjustments and retightening of buildplate screws each time. So I decided to use ABS instead.
