Ultimaker 2 Ornament

For the Making Merry contest, 3-D printing in general comes alive when people enjoy using the machines. Whether a $2000 or a $400 machine is being used, people can get together and talk about improving their 3D printer while showing off what they can give back to the community as individuals. The sharing of open source 3D printers and models has been instrumental in growing the industry to its current size. I'm contributing to the world with a 5.5:1 scale of the Ultimaker 2, which is the prize for the Making Merry contest. I designed it not only because of that but also because this machine is a beauty, and taking on the challenge of modeling was just what I needed to do. It prints as three separate components: the body of the printer, the extruder with x-axes and y-axes, and the front panel featuring the Ultimaker logo. The process involves inserting the front x-axis rod into the back of the ultlimaker panel (which moves the extruder nozzle to the left side) then snapping all parts into place, and sliding the logo down into its correct position.
