Ultimaker 2 Fixation on IKEA Alex
thingiverse
Left and right parts perfectly fit the Ultimaker 2 on an IKEA Alex (www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50255287/) backside, held securely with 3x25mm screws that fix the printer in place. Space is left at the rear for two key reasons: I work under a sloping roof, meaning my office has angled walls, and positioning the Ultimaker 2 on the shelf edge causes the bowden tube to hit the wall, this clearance allows it only to lightly touch. Additionally, the power cord and USB cable have some room to breathe, resting on the shelf without bending sharply when emerging from the case. To effectively secure both parts are essential, one for each side; doing so prevents the printer from turning or slipping, risking damage. The available files contain a regular and mirrored part to cater to this need. Mounting is straightforward: place the components on the shelf, position the Ultimaker 2 between them, then push the parts as far outward as possible while securing with screws. Removal is just as easy; lift the printer out of its cradling pieces. Printed parts are oriented as displayed in the render images Requires supports above.
