Ultimaker 2 Filament Wheel

After switching PLA filament brands, I encountered an unexpected issue: the filament kept snapping against the guide. To resolve this problem, I implemented a new wheel system that prevents acute curvature of the filament from occurring. The added wheel is designed to be quite flexible, allowing it to compensate for any movement of the spool on the holder. One important note to keep in mind is that support material can create an inner wall inside the first bearing wheel. To avoid this issue, make sure to cut out all excess material carefully. To ensure a smooth installation process, print each part twice and clean out the holes with a sharp tool before pressing them together firmly to test each connection. Next, add the outer wheel halves over the inner ones and give it a spin to check for smooth operation. Installation involves clamping each inner wheel half over the Ultimaker 2 filament guide, followed by clamping each outer wheel half over that. Give it a spin to make sure everything is in working order, then position the filament as needed. For those who want to improve the design further, an STL file (SLDPRT) is included for modification purposes.
With this file you will be able to print Ultimaker 2 Filament Wheel with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Ultimaker 2 Filament Wheel.
