I got huge 1 kg filament spools that are too wide (over 80 mm) for the holders in my Ultimaker 2 clone. I designed a custom one with a length of 90mm to fit all spool sizes I had. This new holder has a diameter of 40 mm - it fits perfectly into standard 50 mm spool holes. I added 608 bearings that came from my rollers, making it easy and quiet to turn the spools. If you don't have bearings, print a plastic replacement; it's better than nothing. Be cautious with the scaling factor - adjust it according to your plastic and printer settings so the holder fits snugly into the printer. Enjoy your new holder and remember to give a tip to its designer!
