Ultimaker 2 Cover

I wanted to create a cover for my UM2 extended with a closed compartment for ABS printing that would provide superior protection and style. I designed one using 6mm phenolic, also known as "Pertinax," which I purchased at a bargain price from Ebay (20 Euros total). This material is incredibly sturdy and can be easily machined. To manufacture the cover, I used a 1.5mm mill to achieve precise cuts and smooth edges. The connection system mimics that of the Ultimaker, utilizing tabs and screws for added stability. By adopting this method, I was able to create a very stable casing that fits perfectly on my UM2. In the photos, you may notice that the Polycarbonate windows are absent; these were milled from 8mm PC material using a CNC mill. To replicate this design, you will need access to a CNC milling machine.
