Ultimaker 2 Brick-Upgrade
thingiverse
The moment you've all been waiting for is finally here! Some baseplates are now available to take your Ultimaker 2 to the next level with exciting bricks or minifigures that can observe your printing progress. These plates simply slide onto the top frame and should be secured with additional bricks, plates, or other components on the outside of the side-covers to prevent them from falling into the printer and causing problems. By building around a corner and securing it on both edges, you'll achieve a stable result. However, due to my custom-made door, I'm unable to implement this setup while using the door. To prevent the printhead from crashing into your bricks, be sure not to build above the inner edge of the top cover. But with the addition of some support structures on the outside, you should be able to create a substantial design that extends far beyond the printer's boundaries - perfect for building a city or other intricate structure around your printer! If you're printing high-temperature materials, it's advisable to remove the bricks from your printer due to the significant heat radiated from the buildplate. My Ultimaker has grown jealous of my i3-Mega's cool upgrade, so I've created an identical one for it.
