I wanted to print using 1.75 mm filament because I already had a lot of filament in that size on hand.\nI designed these parts to assist me in that endeavor. There are several parts in this print and a lot of SCAD code for you to adjust to meet additional needs should they arise.\nThe Bowden tube / liner I found on eBay was 4mm OD 2mm ID TFE and it works great.\nThe Outside tube that I line with this TFE tube is 1/4" ID tubing which could be just like your existing Bowden or any other similar tubing.\nThere is a jig you can print that may assist in pin locking the two nested tubes together. Locking them is important to prevent the smaller tube from being pushed up from the force of the filament feeder.\nThe hot end components (Olson Block, Peak, and Tips) have been replaced by ones designed for 1.75 mm filament.\nPrint Settings\nPrinter Brand: Ultimaker\nPrinter: Ultimaker 2\nRafts: No\nSupports: No\nResolution: 0.15\nInfill: 100%\nFilament:\nMaker Shead ABS White\nNotes:\nUpdated 12/15/2019 to include the improved SCAD file of the filament feeder which now must be printed in ABS as two parts and solvent cemented together using acetone or other suitable solvent.\nUse a 2mm drill to pass through the filament pathway.\nI warm up the threaded end of the Press-Lock fastener and then carefully thread it into the bottom of the filament feeder.\nPost-Printing\nOther changes\nYou will need to extend the filament feeder wires to put the stepper above the printer. I accomplished this by installing a jack on the back of the printer that was wired to mate with a plug on the original filament feeder steeper motor. Then I purchased a second identical steeper motor and put a similar plug on that motor's wires. This allows me to use either filament feeder as necessary.\n\nA photo shows both plugs with upper feeder stepper plugged into the jack from the control board.\nHow I Designed This\nI have been using this setup exclusively for more than 2 years and have had no issues with printing with TPU or ABS. If it has one issue, it might be that it will be difficult to add a top cover to the printer unless you integrate the hanger for the stepper in the design.
