This cover can be easily removed and fixed again on the Ultimaker 2 in no time. No hardware modifications are needed at all. It can even be closed and opened while the Ultimaker 2 is running. The cost of making it is just a few cents. To create an heated chamber, you will need to add a front door, which is not part of this project but there are many solutions available on the forums. To use an heated chamber, simply monitor the temperature inside the Ultimaker. Keep in mind that the electrical components are inside, so be careful not to overheat and damage your printer. Check out the forums for more information and discussion on using a heated chamber concept. You can also see a video of this cover in action. Closing and opening the Ultimaker 2 with just one hand is no problem at all. Effectiveness: The cover isn't air tight, but its double sheet design with air gaps provides great thermal insulation. Here's how to make and install it: 1. Print the parts using support for the cover holder. You should have the tubes facing upwards. 2. Join two A4 sheets along their long edge using adhesive tape. Repeat this four times so you get four 2x1 A4 sheets. 3. Fold each of the 2x1 A4 sheets along their long edge every 20mm to create an accordion fold. Do this four times to get four accordion sheets. 4. Attach the four accordion sheets on top of the Ultimaker 2 using adhesive tape. Check out the pictures for more details. 5. Place the cover holders (two) on the Ultimaker 2's print head. 6. Insert the first two accordion sheets below the cover holder. 7. Use clip 2 and clip 1 to secure the edges of the accordion sheets in place. 8. Insert the top two accordion sheets over the cover holder. 9. Attach the upper accordion sheets with two clip 1s. The cover holder and print head are designed to slide freely in both X and Y directions. Study the picture and watch the video for more details. The clips only attach the sheets at their edges, allowing the printhead to move smoothly. Clip 2 keeps the lower sheets from colliding with the print head when it gets close to the edge. Clip 1 secures the upper accordion sheets in place.
