The Ulti-BoBot, a childhood dream turned reality, was created as an articulated 3D toy during a design competition. Inspired by Octonauts cartoons, the robot tank was designed to collect objects and store them in its rear hatch before expelling them. As an homage to Ultimaker, it is an extension of their robot figurine. The Ulti-BoBot measures 126mm x 104mm x 155mm and has 37 assembled parts. It was printed using flexible black PLA, silver, and yellow PLA. Initially designed to pick up purposefully designed 3D objects, the creators decided that using chocolate snacks like M&M's or Smarties would be safer. They also included a working chocolate cannon that shoots the confectionery. The design features snap-together parts for easy assembly, with some parts printed at 150 microns on rafts and others with supports to ensure proper joint movement. The tracks are made from flexible PLA, and the cannon's spring is from a Uniball Jetstream pen.
