ULA Rocket Components - Grabcad Challenge - Simulations
grabcad
Although I failed to meet the deadline for the ULA/Grabcad challenge, I learned a lot from my experience using simulation in Solidworks and incorporated that into subsequent projects. It was also fascinating to gain insight into the aerospace industry's technology and materials. The model was intended for 3D printing on the National Space Station using 'Ultem 9085' material, with a weight limit of 1lb while supporting 600lbs. Unfortunately, I no longer have use for this design; feel free to download the STL and Gcode files for 3D printing, which will take around 5-9 hours for Ultimate Quality using Solidworks 2014, Photoview 360, and Cura 15.04.06.
