The original stl files for this and all other ULA rockets can be found on the web at the following URL: http://www.ulalaunch.com/3d.aspx This is a remix of the ULA Atlas V 551 model, I took the original solid model and made several key modifications. I separated the stand from the rocket, added two posts to fit inside the two central core rocket nozzles, broke the entire length of the rocket into four pieces numbered one to four. This will allow printing at larger scales such as one hundred. I also added holes for connecting pegs this model requires three connecting pegs. I plan a future modification of making the model hollow as possible, which will decrease print time and required material. Currently, I am still printing my initial test item so please stand by until I can get photos of this initial print posted here. If it works, I'll try printing this model at one hundred scale. [UPDATE #1] I ran into a miswound filament issue on my first test print of this model, so I won't have any pics of it until tomorrow night assuming all goes well with my second attempt. I realized with my initial attempt that the first piece should be printed with nozzles pointing upward I always seem to forget that! I also found an issue with depth of peg hole in bottom of piece two so I fixed that in my stl files and will upload them tomorrow... [UPDATE #2] My second attempt at the print ended in disaster. Sorry for delay... I'll try again maybe at smaller scale with shorter print time soon sorry for delay. [UPDATE #3] I've modified the model a bit, hollowing out the body pieces although I'm beginning to doubt that this saves any print time and I will try printing it again this evening at bit smaller scale please stand by! [UPDATE #4] Success finally! The model turned out not badly I think there are some locations where the top of the five strap-on boosters meet with central core, where inner hole for connecting peg breaks with surface of the model. It doesn't look very conspicuous but I could fix this by moving the peg hole down in both bottom of piece number two and top of piece one I've deleted previous stl files and uploaded most recent ones these differ from previous files in that bodies are a bit hollowed out whereas previous files had fully solid bodies I'm beginning to wonder if it actually reduces print time or not. Print Settings Printer Brand MakerGear Printer M2 Rafts Doesn't Matter Supports Yes Resolution High (.2mm) Infill 30% (default M2 setting) Notes I'm leaning toward printing the base separately maybe even printing it on its side with supports it has such a large footprint, printing the raft takes forever. Print piece one the aft end or bottom of rocket upside down with nozzles pointing upward to print this at one hundred scale, total model height should be sixty-four centimeters. I made each of the rocket body pieces to be of equal height so they should each be sixteen centimeters at this scale. Print three pegs for each model
