This goes on the wall, under the light or socket fitting and raises it slightly, for some fittings the hole depth for the switch or socket is not deep enough and this usually gives that little bit of clearance you need .. The fittings screws hold it in place. There are 2 versions one gives a 3mm standoff another gives 5mm standoff..
