Constructed between 1943 and 1944, these vessels were produced to aid the UK war effort. Although smaller, slower, and less capable of range compared to fleet destroyers, they presented several advantages - including reduced production costs, quicker manning, and enhanced maneuverability. A total of over forty of these ships were built, ultimately joining the British Navy as Captain Class Frigates. Key components of their armament consisted of three 3-inch artillery pieces and a quad 40mm anti-aircraft gun. Additional equipment included launch tubes for M14 torpedoes, with an armory consisting of up to eight 20mm cannons. Moreover, each vessel was equipped with M24 mousetrap launchers, racks designed for roll-off depth charges in the after positions, and six to eight k-gun launchers used for releasing depth charges from the vessels themselves.
