uIEC Enclosure Commodore
thingiverse
There are several configurations of the Commodore uIEC/SD card adapter from Retro Innovations. A friend had the configuration picture above so none of the designs on Thingiverse quite fit his needs. This design is based on Rhys79's and also provides access to the three buttons mounted on the SD card board. I know this isn't the best-looking print and the lid looks terrible - my printer bed was dirty and in desperate need of cleaning. This was also an excuse to start learning how to design with OnShape.com, a powerful online 3D parametric design software that offers a free limited account option but still packs a punch. Print Settings Printer: Cobblebot Basic Rafts: No raft is needed here Supports: No supports are required for this print Resolution: The resolution was set to 0.1 - 0.15, perfect for getting the job done Infill: The infill was set at 20%, just enough to give the design some extra strength Notes: I printed with 2 perimeters to give the sidewalls a little more oomph and keep them from being too thin. It's still a shell, but once the lid is in place it's more than strong enough for its intended application. How I Designed This This design was crafted using OnShape.com, which offers an incredible amount of power and flexibility for free. Even with a limited account, you can create complex designs and learn the ins and outs of parametric design, similar to what SolidWorks has to offer. However, SolidWorks is a behemoth of a software that comes with a hefty price tag of around $4k for the license alone. I realized I forgot to include the pad on the lid from Rhys79's original design - it helps lock the SD card firmly in its slot and would make this adapter even more secure. This omission will be corrected in my next update, ensuring that this design is even better than before.
