Dimensionally accurate cutaway models of UHaul truck sizes. Useful for getting a feel for what size truck you need.Earlier this year, we moved across town and for the first time in my life I had enough stuff to warrant renting a UHaul to move it all. We live pretty minimally but we had no idea what truck size we needed to hold everything. This was my solution!I printed these models, scaled to 1.5% (you can scale them to whatever size suits you), and then printed roughly sized models representing our largest pieces of furniture and the moving boxes we'd purchased (I used a very basic OpenScad script to generate the furniture models with labels, as seen in my pictures; if there's interest, I can upload the script as well). From there it was just a game of three dimensional Tetris!Using this method, we determined that we could significantly size down the truck we were intending to rent and save some money. On top of that, our friends that helped us move said it was the smoothest and fastest move they'd ever helped out with. We had everything out and in the truck in under an hour. Planning is great!
