The most widely used military aircraft, the Bell UH-1 series Iroquois, commonly referred to as the 'Huey', began arriving in Vietnam in 1963. Before the conflict finally came to an end, over 5,000 of these incredibly versatile planes were introduced into Southeast Asia. Used for MedEvac, command and control, air assault; transporting personnel and supplies; and serving as gunships, 'Hueys' proved themselves to be indispensable assets on the battlefield. With more than 9,000 produced from the 1950s up to the present day, the Huey is flown by approximately 40 countries around the world today. The UH-1N is a twin-piloted, twin-engine aircraft used for command and control, resupply, casualty evacuation, liaison and troop transport operations.
