This Christmas ornament design has a rich history behind it. As a child, I crafted an ornament for my mother when I was just five or six years old, and she has proudly displayed it on her tree for over forty years, making it a treasured family heirloom. My sister affectionately refers to it as "The Ugly Ball," so now I'm creating a series of ornaments called Ugly Balls to honor its legacy. The .scad file is fully parameterized, allowing you to easily modify the design by adjusting the variables at the top of the file. Alternatively, feel free to start with this scad file and transform it into something entirely new. This design also features a unique functionality: simply stuff a few holiday lights from a string into the ornament, and it will project a dazzling disco ball effect.
