ugears hurdy gurdy repair part
thingiverse
Dear all, It's a spare part designed for the Ugears Hurdy Gurdy mechanical toy. My son broke two of the many parts that hold the front and back sides together when he dropped it. Since this part is not an exact copy of the original, I'm sharing it solely for repair purposes. The original design was created for laser cutting, but I made a print-ready version. I used the Ugears instruction manual PDF to create a snapshot, then converted it into a vector graphic using Inkscape's Image-to-Path method. Next, I simplified the design several times and reworked the holding part to fit its clamp function better, although it doesn't look exactly like the original (but close enough). The Ugears company retains ownership of the original design and all rights associated with it. As this is a simplified version created for repair purposes only, I don't see how using this small part could infringe on any copyrights. The Ugears model consists of many parts, and recreating it in high fidelity would indeed be an infringement. Please use this part solely for repairing the toy and not to create a 3D printed version. One more thing: I had a blast assembling the Ugears toy and even modified it by adding a buzzing bridge mechanism using leftover wood parts from the laser-cut components. Please note that this part is intended for repair purposes only. If you want to enjoy the full experience, purchase the original set. It will be worth it, and you'll also contribute to the company's future design endeavors. Thanks, Frog
