UFS-092 Push Block Fixes
cults3d
I thought this push block looked nice. The designer put a lot of effort in making the design. Unfortunately for me, after printing I ran into a few issues. One detail was the "thumbscrew" file did not slice well in Cura. I even turned on the "thin wall" setting, but it didn't work. The walls at the base of the knob are too thin. They also taper to a sharp edge at each corner. I made a different knob. It is a little larger but it prints well and has a cap to cover the hole for the bolt. (This knob is a remix but the original design has disappeared from Thingiverse.) I also had trouble with the base and legs not fitting standard bolt and hex sizes. If you use machine screw parts, you may have better luck. I may remix these other parts just so I can finish assembling the parts into a whole. I found that a 1" long bolt to be too short, and 1-1/4" to be long. I used a couple of washers under the knob to adjust the fit. For good measure I reworked CliffGlanz thumbscrew, but I haven't tried printing. One of the issues I had with the whole design is the head size for 1/4" bolt is relatively large. Since there is little force/strength needed to assemble, I think a #10 screw size would have worked better, everything would have been smaller, and plenty strong. Since I've already printed everything, I don't feel like reworking the design to use #10 screws. This is another similar design that has several options and remixes. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2056511
