Update Rev B - Enhanced the grip of the hex bit holder. It should provide a much tighter fit now. The opening remains slightly larger to accommodate various sizes, then tapers down to an exact match. Older files have been retained for reference purposes. This innovative design combines two clever concepts: the hand beater handle and the hex bit holder. The hand beater handle, inspired by https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4290265, features a well-designed layout that prioritizes functionality and ease of printing. A suitable attachment was needed to complement this handle. Subsequently, the hex bit holder, based on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4308369, caught attention as an ideal match. Several design iterations were attempted, resulting in one functional prototype. Following the print, a trip to Lowes yielded an affordable set of hex drill bits, available at https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-21-Piece-Titanium-Coated-HSS-Twist-Drill-Bit-Set/1002680600. This combination proved effective. While functional, the design requires improvement in one area: the hex bit holder's looseness needs to be addressed through shrinkage. However, using it as a drill applies significant side pressure as you turn the handle, providing stability when the bit enters wood. The compact nature of this tool eliminates the need for batteries or outlets. Although fun to use, this design is not recommended for serious work; a cordless drill remains the preferred choice for heavy-duty tasks.
