The cake wasn't made of mashed potatoes. Short Video: https://youtu.be/XAt4U7y9yec I've made a small adjustment by adding a spacer ring, providing extra room to fit an LED strip inside. I've added an ESP8266-12e with 1000mAh lipo. It's got a charging board, low voltage protection, and a DC-DC voltage step up to get a constant 5v. The ESP8266 is set up as a wifi access point, allowing you to connect to it to change the lighting modes/colours. The web interface was a little rushed, but it works. There's also a simple push button on the bottom to change modes. With more time, more patterns could be added to create more UFO style lighting. Most of the patterns are directly from FastLED libraries. Disclaimer: Use code/wiring at your own risk! I'm no expert. I think I used a smaller capacitor than indicated in the diagram.
