In addition to being a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1989, the USS Torsk has been designated as one of three submarines serving as historic landmarks that are currently being preserved at their respective historic naval sites. With this status granted, the sub continues to operate today at Pier Four within Washington Navy Yard in our nation's capital city, giving it yet another unique honor and setting it apart from its contemporaries for now on, though its long-standing fame may be hard to outlast, due primarily to its significant place in our country's naval history.
