Ubiquitin

Ubiquitin

thingiverse

Ubiquitin, an 8.5 kDa regulatory protein present in nearly all eukaryotic organisms' tissues, undergoes a post-translational modification known as ubiquitination. In this process, ubiquitin binds to substrate proteins, potentially marking them for degradation via the proteasome. A model of human erythrocytic ubiquitin shows its C-terminal glycine attaching to target protein lysines; it's based on Protein Data Bank entry 1ubq and created using VMD. This ubiquitin model was printed in PLA on a Makerbot Replicator2 with MakerWare 2.2.2.89, featuring three shells and 25% infill; rafts and supports were used during the printing process.
