SUMMARY: The AX_RackMountAdapter is a highly refined 3D printable design serving as a crucial interface between UBiQUiTi's EdgeRouter LITE and ER-RMKIT rack mount kit, making them compatible despite initial incompatibility. STORY: I've owned my UBiQUiTi EdgeRouter LITE for quite some time now, but always sought a robust solution to install it on my server rack. Upon discovering the ER-RMKIT on the UBiQUiTi website, designed for EdgeRouter 4 and 6P, I knew purchasing this kit would require a custom adapter due to the larger dimensions of these routers compared to my EdgeRouter LITE. To address this challenge, I purchased ER-RMKIT from an Amazon vendor for under $20 shipped. Upon arrival, I began designing an adapter tailored around my router by meticulously transferring measurements from both the rack mount kit and the router. For stability and precision, tight tolerances and minimal surface features were essential considerations. IMPLEMENTATION: The ER-RMKIT rack mount kit should include eight (8) screws for installing the router to the kit. However, my box only included four (4) cage nuts and screws for rack mounting. Before proceeding, it is crucial to research your rack's compatibility to ensure a smooth installation process. Additionally, you will need two (2) M3x5mm pan head or computer screws and two (2) M3 nuts. To facilitate the installation process, I've provided brief notes accompanying each picture, which are organized chronologically in sync with the step-by-step instructions. As a result, I anticipate that the installation process should be relatively straightforward for everyone involved.
