U-Trak Arcade Trackball LED Illumination

If you have a Ultimarc U-Trak Arcade Trackball, then this mod is for you! Since my trackball is a translucent red, I chose to use clear bright 5MM LEDs to illuminate the trackball. If you have a clear or pearl ball, then maybe try 5mm RGB LEDs. The included PCB DXF file will help you align the holes, so that the LEDs align properly for maximum brightness. I used my CNC router to cut out the PCB. I first drilled two 1mm holes for alignment, then I secured the PCB to the sacrifice board to cut the perimeter. The LEDs are wired in parallel for my application since I only had 5VDC as a voltage supply. This required a 22ohm 1/2 watt resistor to limit the current. I have provided links to a great LED/resistor calculator to help determine the values for different voltages or if you choose to wire in series. You need to know the forward voltage and current of your LEDs to properly determine the resistor value. The PCB is a universal breadboard single sided printed circuit board for prototyping. Here are the parts needed: Universal Breadboard Single Sided Printed Circuit Board for Prototyping 5mm Bright White LED Diode Lights (DC 3V 20mA), QTY 5 Steel Thread Rolling Screw for Plastic, Black Oxide Finish, Pan Head, Star Drive, #4-20 Thread Size, 3/8" Length, QTY 2 Miscellaneous parts include hookup wire and spade connectors.
