U.S.S. Defiant Warp Core
thingiverse
Inspired by ThePlanetMike's Warp Core Table Lamp. I created basic files for the same thing based on the U.S.S. Defiant's warp core. The "clear parts" and "reaction cylinder" should be printed in transparent filament, of which the plasma conduit section, as well as the "plasma conduit socket" and "reaction cylinder", will need to be printed twice. The "magnetic stabilization ring" should be printed 4 times and can be held in place on the matter injector housing (printed twice) with 3mm filament or whatever you choose. The eight vertical support rods that surround the upper and lower "reaction cylinders" (4 upper and 4 lower are designed to be 4mm fiber rod like used in kites). I have not printed them yet, but am fairly certain there will be few issues. I do plan on printing them as soon as I get more filament. My end goal is to have this mounted on the wall on a "hull plate" looking piece. I just added an image of what the assembled core would look like. PLEASE NOTE that the black parts in the image indicate the 4 fiber rods. I added thinner versions of the upper and lower sphere halves. These can be printed in white or natural color filament to allow better dispersal of inner lighting. After having made an initial attempt at printing the "Defiant Warp Core Plasma Reaction Cylinder", I found that the sections were not joined, so I edited it and labeled it as a rework file. Is anyone else working on this right now? I have cleaned up the file library to remove outdated or faulty files. I fully printed the parts, applied paint and finished the initial core wiring. I uploaded 2 short videos to my Facebook account. First, the full assembly test. I need to add shielding to separate the white chamber lighting from the blue - https://www.facebook.com/MattMKauffman/videos/vb.100001392676707/1571464942909913/?type=3. And next, a clip of the inner lighting and support structure (yes... a PVC pipe... it works) - https://www.facebook.com/MattMKauffman/videos/vb.100001392676707/1571465342909873/?type=3. Yeah, I know... work table is a mess...
