U-Post / Stop Sign Geocache Container
thingiverse
I wanted to craft a unique holder for these roadside signs, like stop signs or speed limit signs that dot my neighborhood's landscape. Technically, it's a U-Post design. Usually, you see fake bolts or contact cases on these posts, but I wanted something more innovative. The container fits snugly inside the channel and has a hinge, allowing it to open and close with ease. To keep it securely in place, I added 5mm magnet holes to the back of the container as well as on the inside of the lid. I also included a hole for a nut to be glued onto the back, but upon reviewing my design, I think I made it too large, so I might remake it later. However, I haven't yet acquired a nut to test it out on an actual sign, and I've shared the f3d file with you in case someone wants to modify or expand on it. This holder should accommodate a small log inside comfortably. When printing, I used the "no supports" option, placing the back of the container at the bottom of the printer bed. The lid was printed similarly, and when assembled, they snap together perfectly – I'm confident that this design will withstand the elements.
