U channel
thingiverse
I created a U-channel design specifically for the N95 mask, which allows for better flexibility. After experimenting with printing in flexible materials like TPU, I found that results were hit or miss - sometimes they worked well, while other times they didn't quite fit right. Wearing them could also be uncomfortable due to their rigidity. To address this issue, I designed a U-channel that wraps around the mask's brim, reducing pressure on the face. Although it doesn't have the same elasticity as rubber, its flat shape makes it easier to mold into place when printed with flexible materials like TPU. This design is an improvement over my initial attempts. For standard masks, any type of U-channel would work fine. However, for N95 and similar masks, I recommend using the flab version instead. To print this design, use a flexible material such as TPU, and don't worry too much about infill settings - they won't affect the outcome significantly.
