U-Bracket for Doorway/Wall Spool Holder
thingiverse
I have my trusty 3D printer set up against an old door, so I needed a smart way to store and use rolls of filament. A piece of PVC pipe (20mm diameter) and these brackets (x2) do the trick perfectly. It's super easy to swap out or add more spools, and the filament flows freely. If I were to do this again, I'd probably add a screw at the bottom of the "U" shape as well (or even exclusively), since that would provide the most strength, but hindsight is 20/20 and this setup works great anyway. Note: The screw holes are countersunk for 4mm thread and 8mm head wood screws. These could be about 10% larger if needed! Note 2: If you're using a flexible material like PVC as the rod (instead of steel or something), you might want to scale it up a bit (literally in the Z axis) so that with some weight on it, it doesn't slip out.
