The miniature 4-axis parallel-mechanism robot arm UArm is a close imitation of the industrial-grade ABB PalletPack IRB460 robotic arm. Its design is comprised of precision-cut acrylic or wood parts that work in harmony with standard RC hobby servos, all controlled by an Arduino-compatible control board. The primary function of this miniature robot relies on an Arduino-controlled setup using 4 servos, each with 4 degrees of freedom to enable smooth movement. Three key servos located at the base regulate the arm's principal motion while a single top servo skillfully moves and rotates the object in question. With a laser cutter or a home-based 3D printer readily available, individuals can easily replicate this design at no cost. For those desiring an upgraded metallic version, a range of 340 dollars is a fair estimate from Sparkfun. Inclusive in the accompanying pdf file are detailed assembly instructions along with every necessary component for constructing this device. Unfortunately, despite extensive research, specific information on the original servo motors integrated into the UArm was not found. Therefore, cost-effective options such as Towerpro MG995 and SG90 common servo motors have been employed to replace the premium ones used in the original version of the miniature robotic arm.
