On a limestone pedestal with the inscription Mihály Tóth 1846-1925 post-flood reconstruction designer. Born in Szeged on September 13, 1845, Mihály Tóth established his career in Transylvania before opening a private engineering office in Szeged in 1878. He rose to become the head of the City Engineering Office in 1884. Notable Szeged public buildings include hospitals, firehouses, the Barracks Hussar, and the Water Works building, all designed by Tóth. In 1904, he laid out the existing charge circuit route. Additionally, Tóth oversaw the installation of artesian wells, a project led by Béla Zsigmondy. His urban planning expertise involved creating network maps to guide the rebuilding of city streets. Serving as chief engineer for 34 years, Mihály Tóth dedicated 38 years to public service in Szeged before passing away in 1925. This object is part of "Scan The World".
