This group portrays Harmodius and Aristogeiton, two passionate lovers who lived in ancient Athens around 514 BC. They are renowned as the Tyrannicides after successfully executing the Peisistratid tyrant Hipparchus. As a result, they became iconic figures symbolizing democracy to the people of ancient Athens. The artwork is a Roman replica of an original Greek creation from the early classical era.
