During World War II, a defensive bunker known as a pillbox was constructed between 1940 and 1941, serving as part of a fortified line stretching across the UK. This particular pillbox is classified as Type 24, crafted from brick with a sloping roof reinforced by concrete. Its metal firing point shutters are still intact in two gun ports.
