I wanted a 4WD slot car. They're not exactly available because really there's no benefit to a 4WD slot car. It's purely for cool factor.So because I couldn't get one and there weren't a lot of good, clearly documented options for 3d printing, I purchased a used Tyco Magnum 440, designed a replacement chassis that would allow me to mount a rear axle in the front, and printed it in ABS-Like resin. This chassis is heavily WIP, so some post-processing may be required.All you need to get this running as a 4WD slot car is a Tyco Magnum 440, either a second Tyco axle or a Life-like axle(I plan to redesign this to be compatible with AFX MegaG+ axles), and a pinion gear. Ideally you would have two 440's to start with. I used a Life-like axle in the front and a MegaG+ pinion gear.You may need to cut down the pinion gear for the front, and I also needed to mill down the front of the motor shaft to a smaller diameter to make the pinion gear fit.To assemble, first press the cut down pinion gear onto the front motor shaft, then install the motor assembly into the chassis. Using ABS-like resin helps on this step because with standard resin, you'll likely crack the chassis while flexing it to install the motor. Next, install the axles from the bottom and then install the pickup shoes. The shoes do need to be bent down to make proper contact with the power rails, so it may take a little trial and error to get it running right. You may also need to trim the chassis around the front of the pickup shoes if they seem sticky.Once you have it running, have fun with your new 4WD slot car!No body mounts present in the current version of the chassis. STEP file is available for any adjustments, or if you want to add body mounts of your choosing.
