Iron Age Eye fibula - Virolaisen sarjan silmäsolki A bronze eye fibula was discovered in the Iron Age cemetery of Paimion Spurila during archaeological excavations conducted between 1984 and 1985. The artifact has two main numbers and three sub-numbers because it was found in three parts over two different years at three separate discovery sites. It is possible that the fibula was deliberately broken when it was placed in the cemetery. The eye fibula belongs to the collection of the Department of Archaeology at the University of Turku. A 3D model of the artifact was created using the RealityCapture software and focus stacking method, combining 553 images taken with varying degrees of sharpness into a single image with 199 levels of detail, which were then fed into RealityCapture. The original polygon mesh was simplified from 8,815,192 polygons to 396,716 polygons. The digitization process was carried out as part of the joint archaeological discovery 3D-digitization project between the Department of Archaeology at the University of Turku, the Turku Museum Centre, and Aboa Vetus et Ars Nova Museum.
